At Row Toward Shore we hope to help families come together through adoption. We know how difficult it is to fundraise for an adoption. Our son came home from Russia in 2007. While working through the adoption process we learned how little grant money there is out there for adoptive parents. We were turned down for every grant we applied for; the funds just were not available. Long story short, we fundraised for over a year, and still ended up with thousands on a credit card. We wonder how many people are not able to adopt simply because of finances. It breaks our hearts to think there are children like our son still in orphanages simply because of finances. We promised ourselves we would contribute to adoption grants and to fundraising families on a regular basis after our son came home.
We have donated over time, but not as much as we would like. We hope this website will help us to make a bigger and more consistent impact to those who wish to adopt. We hope that people will look through our shop and find a print for their home or office, or even just a card knowing that a good portion helps families adopt with less finanacial stress. We want ‘Row Toward Shore’ to work as a funnel into the adoption community. For every item we sell, we donate approximately 20% to ‘OUR CREATOR’S HOPE’, and adoption grant organization that we love. Please check them out! One of the reasons we love ‘Our Creator’s Hope’ is because every penny donated is applied towards actual grants. They do not spend any money on advertising and they are completely run by volunteers. We truly feel like we are making an impact when we donate to OCH.
We know that there are countless worthy families out there who (just like us) will never be awarded grant money. We welcome other adoptive families who are fundraising to link up with us to fundraise through referrals! In addition to donating to ‘OUR CREATOR’S HOPE’, we would also love to help families who are fundraising for their adoption through our referral fundraiser. This is open to ANY ADOPTING FAMILY; you just need to contact us! It is simple, you contact us letting us know you want to be a referral family and then you refer your friends, family, coworkers, anyone to our site. Any item purchased by a referral will earn the same advertised amount that Our Creator’s Hope recieves to be used for your adoption fees! Each referral purchase still contributes to ‘OUR CREATOR’S HOPE’ as well. We know there are ‘adoption fundraisers’ out there that require you to buy product up front, which never really made sense to us. There is absolutely nothing for you to buy. Basically you send people to us and we thank you by donating to your adoption fund. We donate your portion immediately after a sale is processed through paypal. We learned through our fundraising experiences in the past, that every little bit helps!
We think it is important for us to acknowledge that we do make some money after each sale. Even when donating to OCH and to adoption referral fundraisers, we still make about 20 – 30% also (after we pay for supplies, shipping, etc). We hope very much to adopt again, possibly in 2011, although we learned we need to start fundraing earlier than last time! Row Toward Shore is also an adoption fundraiser for us! Please know that if you make a purchase you are also helping our family adopt in the future as well!
